Under 11's Dribble

Since the last newsletter  we have had a reasonably successful set of games against Biggleswade, Datchworth and Olney. Against Biggleswade we ran out worthy winners  25 -7 with five different members of the team scoring each of our 5 tries. We have an agreement that any player can take the conversion if they want to have a go and it was pleasing to see all five kicks go over from five different players. Datchworth was a very strange game as we spent most of the game in their half and led 7-0 will 5 minutes to go, only to lose 14-7. Alongside the try, we crossed the Datchworth line three further times through Tristan, Alfie and Kharim but each time the ball was not quite under control when it was grounded. In addition, due to our continued pressure, they fly hacked the ball of their line with our players ready to pounce and had to touch the ball down in their in goal area following a 5m scrum.

So all in all, the team were desperately unlucky not to come away with a resounding victory and as a team we performed really well and should be pleased with the way we played. Olney was a very hard game, they relied heavily on a big set of forwards playing the mauls and all three of their tries were scored as a result of the ball being bundled over the line. Pleasing for us was the fact that our 2 tries from Tim and Charlie were scored from open play, trying to run and move the ball. Hopefully the lesson from the Olney game was tackle round the legs, get them to ground and compete for the ball from that point. Over all though a pleasing end to 07 and we can look forward to a very promising 08, well done guys excellent effort and commitment across November and December.
